Template: Cloud Maturity Model Assessment

Our cloud maturity model assessment template gives you a great head start towards the complex task of assessing an organization’s cloud maturity.

The model template follows a high level approach and then you can drill down as needed.

It includes 12 simple yet impactful questions that cover a wide spectrum of topics for cloud maturity.

These questions shows where you are on a 3-level maturity:

1. Tactical
2. Strategic
3. Transformational

In addition, the results will be grouped into 4 dimensions:

1. Strategy: leadership buy-in, team skills, roadmap etc.
2. Infrastructure: technical aspects such as development, devops, tooling etc.
3. Security: how security is handled
4. Data: how data security and lineage is handled

Some of the questions are multiple choice where respondents make some hard choices. Others use the sliding scale (rate from 1 to 5) and allow you to capture the perceptions of multiple stakeholders. Then you can conduct a workshop to see why these stakeholders have differing views – a very powerful alignment technique.

Potential Enhancements

Unless you are just using this for lead generation on your website, you can and should customize the template when you use it for specific clients. Here are some changes you could make to the cloud  maturity model assessment template.

1. Group questions into dimensions such as Voice of customer, data, compliance technology, operations, etc. Then you can add more questions inside each dimension and make the assessment more comprehensive.
2. Since you will have specific services and know the detailed context of your clients, use checkbox or radio button questions instead of a slider. That will allow you to be more objective and position your services better.
3. Add your own description of what the rating bands mean.
4. Add your own feedback text for each dimension and question to explain what the scores mean
5. Add profile fields to divide your audience by function (technology, operations etc.) and role (CIO, architect, analyst etc.) – an excellent way to see the differences in perception and drive alignment
