How to Shuffle Questions in Your Assessments & Quizzes

As a coach, consultant, or expert, you want your assessments and quizzes to feel fresh and engaging.

Sometimes, that means shuffling the order in which questions appear.

Shuffling questions allows your respondents to experience your content in a slightly different way each time, even when the underlying structure (dimensions or categories) remains the same.

This is especially useful when you want participants to reflect across multiple areas (aka dimensions or categories) instead of answering all questions in one category at once.

Here’s how you can do it in just two simple steps:

Step 1: Enable Shuffle

Go to the Options tab for Questions in your assessment settings. Then, simply set “Shuffle” to true.

Step 2: Exclude Special Questions From Shuffle

Some questions need to stay in place—for example:

An introductory question to set the tone.
A page with instructions.
A video page where you explain the next section.

For these, just open the Options for the specific question and mark it as “Exclude from Shuffle.”
